VALUE-Dx

VALUE-Dx is an Innovative Medicines Initiative project that aims to describe the value of diagnostic point-of-care testing (POCT) to improve the quality of antibiotic prescribing. The use of diagnostic POCT in patients with community-acquired acute respiratory tract infections can avoid inappropriate antibiotic prescribing and help counteract antibiotic resistance (AMR).

VALUE-Dx is an Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) project that aims to generate evidence of the added value of diagnostics in order to tackle antibiotic resistance through a targeted use of antibiotics. The project has seven work packages. The Pharmacoeconomics Department at GÖG is involved in work package five (Economic Value, Policies and Innovative Funding Models) and leads Task 5.5. In this task, the research and analysis of measures for pricing and funding of POCT diagnostics was conducted for different European countries. Based on these findings, 15 policy recommendations were developed to promote the use of AMR diagnostics, addressing the areas HTA, funding, pricing, and procurement of POCT.
