GÖG-Colloquium | Zinnige Zorg: The Dutch approach to appropriate care
Hans Paalvast will give a lecture on Zinnige Zorg: The Dutch approach to appropriate care
Zinnige Zorg is a methodology to identify inappropriate care and stimulate the definition and application of proper/appropriate care. Important elements in this approach are the use of data (Business Intelligence), reviews of medical guidelines (including their EBM value) and intensive co-operation with all the parties involved in the Health care sector. The patient, and his/her journey through the medical processes, is central in the discussions and reviews. Based upon the findings in the in-depth analysis, parties can agree upon a redesign of the medical guidelines and/or practice.
Hans Paalvast is manager at the National Health Care Institute (Zorginstituut Nederland) in the Netherlands and one of the founders of the Zinnige Zorg Program. He is now manager of the team that focuses on cardiovascular and lung diseases. Before joining the National Health Care Institute, Hans was a successful interim manager in various professions in various industries. Hans is Master on Aerospace Technology (Technical University of Delft) with Master of Business Management on Industrial Organization (Prof. Jan in’t Veld).
